Oh, baby..?

Is there such thing as a childhood anymore? It seems as though careers are starting at awfully young ages now-a-days. Of course there will always be child stars, but models and clothing designers? There is certainly something to be said about that.

High-end designers are in the process of releasing children’s lines at full swing and their choices of models are quite astonishing. These child models are made up and paraded around as if they are full on adults. Now to make matters worse, celebs are soliciting their children as the faces of clothing lines.

Jennifer Lopez and her 2 and a half year old twins recently wrapped up a photo shoot for a Gucci campaign. Take a look at the pics below, courtesy of Huffingtion Post.

These are cute and playful shots and J.Lo is looking quite stunning but her son Max favors The Situation. Maybe I’m wrong, but someone should not look like a grown man at the age of two.

Gucci is, however, donating precedes to UNICEF's Schools for Africa and $50,000 to Lopez's Maribel Initiative. The dancer, turned singer, turned actress told UsMagazine.com, "Now there are two Gucci spokesbabies for a beautiful cause!" She added, "Emme picks out her own outfits and likes to sleep in her princess dress. It's hard to get Max dressed. He prefers to run around the house with no clothes on."

How do you all feel about youth having careers in modeling?

Doll for a Day

As iconic as Barbie is, how awesome would it be to have a Barbie that looks just like you? Well, now you can. That is if you are between the ages of 3 and 12, of course.

If you know me, you know I love my Nickelodeon! While watching the network I saw a commercial advertising the chance of one lucky girl being able to recreate her look Barbie style! The winner of the Doll for a Day contest will get the chance to fly to Barbie headquarters, meet Barbie herself (not sure how that part is possible) and get a Barbie that looks just like her – hair, clothes and all!

How fierce does that sound? Being the big kid that I am tried to enter the contest but was saddened to find out that there is an age limit. So, if you have a little one who would like to be a Doll for a Day, then log on and attempt to win so that I can live vicariously through her!

Although this contest seems totally fab, I would like to poses a few questions. Can you be a boy and win? Can you be of another persuasion than Caucasian and win? Can you be a chuncker and still win? Barbie is of course a girl, but little boys play with Bardies too. Furthermore, we have seen a growth in the ethnicities of Barbie over the years, but she still remains the classic “white” Barbie in the eyes of many. Barbie is also known for her sexy, skinny figure. There is no such thing as a plus size Barbie, so will a heftier youngster even be considered to win the contest? These are just a few things to ponder. And for the record, I think it should be open for adults too!

What do you guys think of the Doll for a Day contest?

#nowplaying

Christina Perri is the new girl on the scene, but man has she got a voice on her. Not much needs to be said for the song, because the words speak for themselves. She is an amazing talent, both with singing and songwriting. This video is very artsty-fartsy, and we here at JuMo love things like that! Hit play and get ready to watch some pretty amazing contemporary dancing.

Not Ready To Make Nice

Music, fashion, art direction, and an amazing story. Do you need any more to make an amazing music video? While country may not be my most favorite genre of music, The Dixie Chicks are one of my favorite bands of all time, and Not Ready To Make Nice is one of the best songs to come out of the genre. In case you don't know the story, Natalie Maines, the lead singer, was one of the first celebrities ever to openly say a negative comment against the President of The United States, who at the time was George W. Bush. Once the comment was maid, the group saw a large backlash from conservatives, and even received death threats.

Besides Natalie Maines being one of the absolute best singers of our modern generation, and the song being an anti-Bush song, you have to love the song because it was so well written, and the music video has some of the best art direction seen in the last ten years. The video was directed by the famous British director Sophie Muller. The song made number 77 on the list of Rolling Stones 100 Best Songs Of The Decade, and won three Grammy awards for record of the year, song of the year, and best country performance by a duo or group.

The Dixie Chicks said in interviews that writing the song was a way to free themselves, and to help them move on from a situation that got blown way our of proportion. As you have come to see with this blog, we want to share any music that is about setting yourself free, so please, even if you are not a fan of country music, watch the video below and let us know what you think.

Happy 100

Well readers, this is our 100th post! To be honest, we were not sure how long this blog was going to last. It was meant to just be a little thing we did for fun, and if we didn't have a lot of readers, then it was no big deal. Well, you all have really kept us going for the past 100 posts. We appreciate the feedback we get from you, and the interest you take in what we have to say! I feel like we've all been through so much together, even though we don't know most of you. We sincerely hope you continue to check out what we have to say, and that you pass the blog along to other people, so we can keep this going for a few hundred more posts! Thank you all so much!

Along with a huge thank you to all - our friends and loyal readers, we figured it would be appropriate to give Gaga a shoutout too! As you may have noticed, we are die hard Lady Gaga fans and several of our previous posts have been about her; so why not make the 100th post about her too?

We have compiled a list of the top 10 reasons why we love our Mother Monster, Lady Gaga.

  1. Lady Gaga is a Great performer – As the music industry is currently going through a stage of autotune and backup dancers as a saving grace, Gaga doesn’t need any of that. Though her dancers are fierce, she is perfectly capable of getting on stage and belting it out without digital help or dancers. She is well-trained to sing live and give it her all while dancing. She puts on over-the-top shows but does it modestly.
  2. Lady Gaga is an activist – We all saw her arrive to the MTV Music awards with ex-military men and women on her surprisingly tan arm. She graced the stage in her McQueen original to educate audiences about Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. She continues to fight for the rights of the LBGT community and even the lives of homeless teens. And let’s not forget she donated generous proceeds to victims of the earthquake in Haiti. We’re sure there is more generosity on the way.
  3. Lady Gaga is inspirational – From song lyrics, to album titles, to answers to interview questions, she encourages fans and others to love themselves no matter what! We were “Born this way!”
  4. Lady Gaga is a business woman – She is only 24 years old and she has created a fashion empire, she is Polaroid’s creative director and she is the brains behind the visions of her concert tours, appearances and just about everything else she does. Gaga has a creative team, but lots of it stems from her tiny little, brilliant business-minded head. She also recently signed a perfume deal and talks of a sunglasses line could be in the future.
  5. Lady Gaga gives back – Not only does she give to charity but she is also generous in the way of helping dear friends. Gaga has brought along with her Semi Precious Weapons for her Monster Ball Tours. Back in the day, Lady Gaga opened for them. But now that gaga has made it to the big leagues, she is sharing the wealth of the rock star life by bringing them along. Dj Lady Starlight is getting in on the action too! She is a hip NY Dj who helped Gaga create her image and is now sippin on Jack Daniels in front of millions of screaming little monsters and loving it!
  6. Lady Gaga is a fashion icon – Seriously, this one is self explanatory. From Kermit costumes to meat dresses, there is nothing Gaga won’t wear and not make it look out of this world fabulous!
  7. Lady Gaga flipped the script on music – In 2008 Gaga burst onto the scene with pop, dance hits like ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Pokerface’. A few years later, she is still at it with tracks like ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Telephone’ but with deeper songs like ‘Alejandro’ and ‘Speechless’ she makes audiences think. Not to mention, she is making fellow artists in the industry step their game up. Remember when X-tina tried to make a comeback as the off brand Gaga and failed? Well, yea..point proven.
  8. Lady Gaga knows how to party – As Michigan natives, we have both seen Gaga perform in Detroit and both times she has mentioned how Detroit Monsters like to party with a Bud Light in one hand and a cig in the other. This is very much true, btw. Other than that, Gaga has been known to buy up the bar for fans and drunkenly scream at baseball games. We love to party and we love that Lady Gaga loves to party!
  9. Lady Gaga is modest – Deep down she knows she’s the shit but doesn’t go parading around with a big head like some of these other divas. She sheds tears of joy whenever she wins an award or is congratulated for her efforts and greatness. She has power, but uses it for good rather than evil. Gaga is a woman of character
  10. Lady Gaga loves us – First of all, there are not many artists who have a crazy big following like she does. Thus, it was only fitting that we have a name – Little Monsters. She signs autographs, she parties with us, she even brings us baskets of muffins when we wait in line for hours to see her. Oh! And she follows a lot of us back on twitter. Gaga lives for her fans. As she inspires us, we inspire her to get better every day.

Thanks again! We love our readers and we love you, Lady Gaga!

Love, Justin and Jessica

Nicki Minaj falls short

Remember when Lil Jon was on every track? It seems to me that Nicki Minaj is the new and improved, female version of Lil Jon. Although Nicki personally frightens me, I give her props. She is a female artist doing her thing as she has brought creativity to numerous tracks. But this time, I think the Young Money lady has fallen short.

Will Smith is steadily creating offspring to take over the world. Jaden Smith was a badass in Karate Kid and now little sister, Willow Smith is whipping her hair everywhere. But what does any of this have to do with Nicki Minaj, you ask? Well Nicki has jumped on Willow's banger "Whip My Hair" and served as a verse opener for the remix. For only 9 years old, Willow goes hard! Although autotune has aided some of that fierceness, you can still tell the little tyke has some power on her voice. However, on this remix, I feel like Nicki has brought it down. The lyrics of course were clean as a result of Willow being a kid star but it was not Nicki's usual rap and just it seemed a bit dry. I do have to high five her for the Juicy Couture, Boomkat and Michael Jackson references! I still enjoy the song but think Nicki may have brought it down a bit and will most likely nix the remix from my playlist. Listen below. What do you guys think?
