Not Ready To Make Nice

Music, fashion, art direction, and an amazing story. Do you need any more to make an amazing music video? While country may not be my most favorite genre of music, The Dixie Chicks are one of my favorite bands of all time, and Not Ready To Make Nice is one of the best songs to come out of the genre. In case you don't know the story, Natalie Maines, the lead singer, was one of the first celebrities ever to openly say a negative comment against the President of The United States, who at the time was George W. Bush. Once the comment was maid, the group saw a large backlash from conservatives, and even received death threats.

Besides Natalie Maines being one of the absolute best singers of our modern generation, and the song being an anti-Bush song, you have to love the song because it was so well written, and the music video has some of the best art direction seen in the last ten years. The video was directed by the famous British director Sophie Muller. The song made number 77 on the list of Rolling Stones 100 Best Songs Of The Decade, and won three Grammy awards for record of the year, song of the year, and best country performance by a duo or group.

The Dixie Chicks said in interviews that writing the song was a way to free themselves, and to help them move on from a situation that got blown way our of proportion. As you have come to see with this blog, we want to share any music that is about setting yourself free, so please, even if you are not a fan of country music, watch the video below and let us know what you think.
